Update: January 17th, 2016

Due to the frigid coldfront and the extremely cold temperatures and winds moving further into Sunday, unfortunately Mount Joy Snow Resort is unable to open on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Snow conditions are good, but the weather is extreme with -40 weather with the windshield.

This includes The Joy Ski and Snowboard School, which will be delayed until next weekend (January 23 to 24, 2016). We hope to see you at the hill next weekend, as the forecast looks to warm up!

For future updates, we will provide further information on our website and social media.

T-Bar Lift Opens

Due to lots of powder snow over the last couple weeks, Mount Joy Snow Resort is able to open its T-Bar Lift (which goes to all runs at the top of the hill) on Sunday, January 17th. Snow conditions are fairly good.

Due to the frigid cold temperatures on Saturday, January 16th, Mount Joy Snow Resort is not able to open on Saturday. However, we would love to see your smiling faces on Sunday, January 17th, when we open all lifts. Mount Joy Snow Resort is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MST on Sunday, January 17th, 2016. We will also start The Joy Ski and Snowboard School on Sunday as well.

See you at the hill!

Opening Date Set

Mount Joy Snow Resort has set its season opener for Saturday, January 9th, 2016.

Snow conditions are fair (we are hoping for more natural snow though!). Volunteers have been working hard to create snow.

For the season opener, day passes will be 2 for 1, since there will only be certain runs open towards the bottom of the hill (the ones with the tow rope lift). For those skiers or snowboarders who like to do tricks, Mount Joy Snow Resort will have some rails set up.

The Joy Ski & Snowboard School is scheduled to start Saturday, January 16th, 2016. Registrations close soon. Visit The Joy Ski & Snowboard School page for more details.

The crew is working hard at making snow...

At Mount Joy Snow Resort, our volunteer crews have been working hard over the last several days to get the hill ready.

Keep posted - more information is coming soon on our grand opening!

To volunteer for the upcoming season, visit our 'Volunteer' section and fill out our volunteer form.

We look forward to seeing you at Mount Joy Snow Resort this season!

Snow Melting and Slushy

With the warming weather and Spring upon us, the snow at Mount Joy Snow Resort is melting and softening with slushy conditions. Great conditions for our annual Slush Cup though! We held our season closing on Saturday, March 7th with The Goat Family Day/ Slush Cup to close off the season. We thank those who all came out to have fun on this day and look forward to seeing you for another season!

Lots and Lots of Fresh Powder: White Out Conditions in Some Areas

Mount Joy Snow Resort is very excited about the snow dump that started early this morning and has been continuing throughout the day today. The powder conditions are excellent and fresh. However, due to the non-stop snow, there are 'white outs' in some areas, such as when you are driving or skiing or boarding. Please take caution on the road since slippery or white out conditions may occur.

Due to the hazardous road conditions, Mount Joy Snow Resort will be delaying our opening today until 12 noon MST. On the roads, there are some slippery and white out spots. We want to ensure our volunteers (who graciously help run the hill) arrive safely. It looks like this storm will pass by around this afternoon. We will post regular updates to let you know when the conditions pass.

For those that can make it out for their regular ski or snowboard school, we will have some instructors in attendance. We will be open at 12 noon today to the public. On the bright side, the snow conditions and powder will be amazing!

Snow and Weather Conditions Great

Mount Joy Snow Resort is open this weekend on Saturday and Sunday (February 14th and 15th) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MST. The conditions are looking great and the weather is forecasted to be excellent this weekend.

Don't miss the FAMILY FUN DAY at Mount Joy Snow Resort this Saturday, February 14th - only 20 minutes SW of Lloydminster! There will be some fun activities, races and games! Ski or snowboard with family and friends. All of our runs will be open with some great new terrain features, from beginners to more advanced. Visit our chalet for our affordable meal special and a hot drink.

We look forward to seeing you have fun with your family and friends at Mount Joy Snow Resort this weekend!

Winds Too Strong At Mount Joy

Mount Joy Snow Resort was really hoping to reopen to the public this weekend with the great snow dump from mother nature. Due to the high winds and with the high windshield, Mount Joy unfortunately cannot reopen this weekend.

We will hopefully be able to reopen soon. We will keep you regularly updated on our Facebook page and our website at www.mountjoy.ca.

Please note: Our ski and snowboard school will still run this weekend at the bottom of the hill (during scheduled times). The chalet will be open for warming up. The top of the hill cannot reopen yet due to the high winds.

Warm Weather Affects Conditions: Mount Joy Closed This Weekend

This week, the weather warmed up quite abit, with highs of even 7+ Celsius in the Lloydminster area. As such, snow conditions have been affected at Mount Joy Snow Resort, where it is not recommended to ski or snowboard in these conditions to preserve the snow on the runs. As such, Mount Snow Resort will be closed this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday (January 24th and 25th).

We will continue to only have our ski and snowboard school this weekend, where this will be run from the bottom of the hill and more focused on technique and skills. All private lessons will be cancelled since we only have a limited area and to maximize the lessons during the scheduled time. Our lessons coordinator will be in contact with those with private lessons. For the ski and snowboard school, your sessions will remain at the same time this weekend.

We hope the weather gets above freezing levels soon, and that we get some fresh snow to improve conditions. Thank you to all of your support so far this season! We look forward to seeing you soon.

We will post updates on our website (under the Snow Conditions section on our website) and on our Facebook and Twitter page once we know more.

Snow Conditions Good

All runs at Mount Joy Snow Resort are open. Snow conditions are fairly good. Of course, we would love to even have more powder from Mother Nature but right now we have fairly good skiing or snowboard conditions.

We are starting to build some of our terrain features and jumps this weekend for those who love to do tricks. More to come soon on these.

The weather forecast for this weekend is only single negative digits Celsius so we anticipate a great weekend with nice weather for skiing or snowboarding. Grab a friend and meet us out at Mount Joy!

Most runs are open at Mount Joy Snow Resort

Thanks to Mother Nature and our recent snow dump, Mount Joy Snow Resort will open Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MST. We love being located only 20 minutes SW of Lloydminster!

Our regular season is usually each Saturday and Sunday from January to March, dependent on weather and snow conditions.

We look forward to seeing you at Mount Joy Snow Resort this weekend!

Weather Forecast for this Weekend

UPDATE: Mount Joy Snow Resort will only be open for The Joy Ski and Snowboard School this weekend, due to weather and snow forecasts.

It is forecasted to be quite chilly this weekend (weather temperature highs in the -20s…brrrr). However, we are excited we can open for The Joy Ski and Snowboard School, where a good portion will be held inside and potentially at the far bottom of the hill, due to weather conditions. If you are in the ski or snowboard school, visit the school/ lessons page for more details and times. We look forward to meeting all of the participants in The Joy Ski and Snowboard school this Saturday!
