Update on Snow Conditions: Rainy and Icy

Due to today's rain, Mount Joy Snow Resort will not open today to protect the safety of our patrons and volunteers. We will update our website and social media pages as we know more.

Many Smiling Faces Learn at Mount Joy

This past weekend, many local people (within a wide variety of ages), enjoyed The Joy Ski and Snowboard School or private lessons at Mount Joy Snow Resort. The local snow resort, only 20 minutes SW of Lloydminster, was sold out as many people enjoyed the lovely weather and learning experience from the ski and board instructors.

This upcoming weekend (Saturday, February 6th and Sunday, February 7th) many of these lessons will continue as Mount Joy Snow Resort is seeing an increased demand for instruction. Although the snow and weather conditions haven't been the greatest, the snow resort has been able to keep Strawberry Hill and the tow rope open, which is a fun run for those beginners, or even those who want to try out the jumps at the terrain park.

Again, this upcoming weekend, Strawberry Hill and the tow rope will be open, where lift passes and rentals will be 50% off (no pun intended - you will get both skis - but at half price). Plus, they will continue to serve affordable warm food and tasty treats at the chalet.

The weather forecast is looking good this weekend, with lower temperatures, a mix of sun and cloud, and a 30% chance of snow. See you at Mount Joy Snow Resort this weekend!

Weekend of January 30th - 31st, 2016 Snow Conditions

Due to the warming weather and rain conditions, this past week, Mount Joy Snow Resort will only be opening the tow rope and Strawberry Hill this upcoming weekend (Saturday, January 30th and Sunday, January 31st). Our regular hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MST.

All rentals and lift passes will be 50% off this weekend.

The Joy Ski and Snowboard School will continue as scheduled. Mount Joy Snow Resort will also open its rental booth, and chalet with hot and cool treats for this weekend.

See you at your snow destination, only 20 minutes SW of Lloydminster.

Update: Sunday, January 17th, 2016

Due to the frigid coldfront and the extremely cold temperatures and winds moving further into Sunday, unfortunately Mount Joy Snow Resort is unable to open on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Snow conditions are good, but the weather is extreme with -40 weather with the windshield.

This includes The Joy Ski and Snowboard School, which will be delayed until next weekend (January 23 to 24, 2016). We hope to see you at the hill next weekend, as the forecast looks to warm up!

For future updates, we will provide further information on our website (under News and Snow Conditions) and on our social media (Facebook and Twitter).

T-Bar Lift Opens Sunday

Due to lots of powder snow over the last couple weeks, Mount Joy Snow Resort is able to open its T-Bar Lift (which goes to all runs at the top of the hill) on Sunday, January 17th. Snow conditions are fairly good.

Due to the frigid cold temperatures on Saturday, January 16th, Mount Joy Snow Resort is not able to open on Saturday. However, we would love to see your smiling faces on Sunday, January 17th, when we open all lifts. Mount Joy Snow Resort is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MST on Sunday, January 17th, 2016. We will also start The Joy Ski and Snowboard School on Sunday as well.

The ski and snowboard rental building, as well as the chalet, which serves hot meals, hot drinks, cold drinks and treats, will be open too.

See you at the hill!

Half Price Lift Tickets and Rentals

Mount Joy Snow Resort's opening date is still scheduled for this Saturday, January 9th, 2016. Hours will be 10 a.m to 4 p.m. MST for Saturday and Sunday.

Skiers or snowboarders can enjoy lift tickets or rentals for half price on opening day weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Due to snow conditions at this point, only the tow rope lift will be open, where skiers or boarders can access Strawberry Hill (the Bunny Hill). All other services will be open, including the chalet (with hot and cool eats and treats), as well as the ski & snowboard rental building.

For more information on rentals and lift tickets, visit the Rates page for more details.

Opening Date Set for Mount Joy Snow Resort

Mount Joy Snow Resort, just 20 minutes SW of Lloydminster, will have its grand season opening on Saturday, January 9th, 2016.

Volunteers have been working hard to get new snow made.

With its season opener, day passes and rentals will be half price for both Saturday and Sunday on the opening weekend. Skiers or snowboarders can enjoy the bottom runs for the season opener (the bunny hill with the tow rope lift). For those more advanced skiers or boarders, Mount Joy will also have some rails set up for your enjoyment. Ski and board rentals and food/ drinks at the chalet will also be available at the season opener. Volunteers will be working hard to open other runs soon.
